Michigan’s only pediatric-specialized O&P clinic adopts the advanced 3D-printed cranial remolding system for babies with plagiocephaly and brachycephaly
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – June 16, 2026 – Strive Orthotics & Prosthetics, the only pediatric-specialized orthotics and prosthetics clinic in Michigan, today announced it has selected Talee® as its new cranial orthotic device for infants. The transition is effective immediately, with Talee now available to families across metro Detroit who are seeking treatment for their baby’s head shape.
Talee® is a leading 3D-printed cranial remolding orthosis used to treat head-shape deformities in infants, including positional plagiocephaly and brachycephaly. Each helmet is custom-built to the individual child using safe white-light 3D scanning – eliminating the need for traditional plaster casting – and is then 3D printed for a precise, fully personalized fit.
For families, the difference is in the everyday experience of wearing the device. Talee’s perforated, lightweight structure makes the helmet thin and breathable, improving airflow to reduce sweating and skin irritation during the months a baby wears it. Its two-stage design allows for the controlled correction of two helmets within a single orthosis, providing room for growth and continued progress without a separate device. Treatment progress is tracked digitally and shared with parents through easy-to-understand charts, 2D cross-sections and 3D visualizations.
The change follows the discontinuation of the clinic’s previous cranial orthosis, which prompted Strive to evaluate the field and select the device that best fit its standard of pediatric care.
“From the first scan to the final fitting, Talee makes the entire process easier on the families we serve,” said Matt McEwin, co-owner of Strive Orthotics & Prosthetics. “The scanning is quick and comfortable for the baby, the helmet is lighter and more breathable than what parents expect, and the progress tracking gives families real confidence that their child is on the right path. It reflects exactly the kind of experience we want every family to have at Strive.”
“As a pediatric clinician, my priority is always the comfort of the baby and the precision of the correction, and Talee delivers on both,” said Melissa McEwin, co-owner of Strive Orthotics & Prosthetics. “The 3D-scanned, custom-printed fit lets us target correction exactly where it’s needed while giving the skull room to grow into a healthier, more symmetrical shape. Combined with the breathable design and clear progress reporting, it’s a system I’m proud to offer to the families who trust us with their children’s care.”
Strive Orthotics & Prosthetics provides specialized pediatric orthotic and prosthetic care, including cranial remolding orthoses, SMOs, AFOs, pediatric prosthetics and serial casting. As Michigan’s only pediatric-focused O&P clinic, the family-owned practice serves infants and children from across the Detroit metropolitan area.
